ORIGIN OF THE PERUVIAN CULTURES

DAY 01: Lima - Caral - Huaraz

Transfer Huaraz Lima, on the way we will visit the City of Caral composed of 32 impressive buildings in truncated pyramidal forms, connected by platforms to circular plazas, ceremonial centres and residential areas. Caral represents the oldest civilization of America. Thereafter, we initiate the ascent to the Andes, arriving at the Pass of Conococha (4100 metres), from where we can appreciate the Cordillera Blanca - White Mountain Range. We descend through the valley of the River Santa, to finally arrive in Huaraz.

DAY 02: Chavin de Huantar

Early in the morning, we will make an excursion to the most representative Ceremonial Centre of the High Peruvian Culture, with approximately 3000 years of antiquity. We will cross the Southern part of the Callejon de Huaylas Valley, where we will visit the Town of Recuay, passing through Ticapampa and Catac. On our ascent to the White Mountain Range we will see the Querococha Lagoon. We will cross the Tunnel of Cahuish and we will descend to the Valley of the Mosna River to arrive at Chavin, where we will visit the Archaeological Complex that is conformed by a set of stone constructions of truncated pyramidal forms, with superposed platforms and sunken Plazas united by staircases. The buildings present inner galleries of complicated designs, in one of them we can find the "Lanzon", monolith of 4,50 metres of height, that represents the main Deity of Chavin". Return to Huaraz.

DAY 03: The Callejon de Huaylas Valley and the Laguna de Llanganuco Lake


Huaraz
After breakfast, we will cross the Northern part of the Valley of the River Santa located between the Cordillera Blanca White and the Cordillera Negra Black Mountain Ranges, where we will pass through towns and cities like: Carhuaz, Mancos and Yungay. We will appreciate most important snowy peaks of the Cordillera Blanca - White Mountain Range like the Huascaran (6768 ms), Huandoy (6356 ms) and Hualcan (6162 ms). From Yungay we will ascend to the Cordillera Blanca - White Mountain Range to visit the Llanganuco Gorge, protected by the National Park Huascaran, where we will appreciate the beautiful lagoons: Chinacocha and Orcocha. Return to Huaraz.

DAY 04: Sechin - Trujillo

Today we will ascend the Cordillera Negra - Black Mountain Range until arriving at the Punta Callan Pass at 4200 m.a.s.l. from where we will be able to observe the peaks of the Cordillera Blanca - White Mountain Range. We will descend towards the coast. In Sechín we will visit the constructions covered by carved ashlars representing diverse sectioned parts of the human body as well as soldiers and standards. We will visit the site museum, where we will appreciate wall paintings, ceramics and tracks of footsteps of the old inhabitants of Sechín. Arrival to the City of Trujillo.
